What is Remembered, Lives

DOD_detail_1

It may seem a long time away, but it’s not too early to start your preparations for Dia de los Muertos.

Also known as Day of the Dead, the festivities begin on November 1 and end on November 2.

Dia de los Muertos is an opportunity to honor loved ones who have passed.

There are many traditional rituals surrounding the occasion, including building an altar, having a feast, and bringing gifts to the graves of the departed.

Cardboard Safari offers some beautiful designs for this very occasion.

Our products require assembly, providing a great opportunity to focus your thoughts on the beloved dead in your life while creating something with your hands.

The whole family can gather around the wreath, taking turns slotting it together, while vocalizing memories of  loved ones who have passed.

If you prefer, spend some quite time alone, piecing together a skull while visualizing your dear deceased.

Our skulls come in Micro sizes in brown, white, black, and striped, as pictured above.

They also come in a large size, in brown and white only.

Or choose our special edition skull, that comes in its own box.

New Cardboard Crocks!

crocterra

In celebration of spring we are unveiling a new design: the Cardboard Crock! If you are an avid gardener and appreciate the concept of wearing your shoes and eating them too, the Cardboard Crock is 100% compostable. Water, sweat, and spit soluble, these shoes will truly take you for a walk through the mud. You may want to wear socks because once they melt there is nothing between you and that gravel road. Kids who prefer to run around barefoot will love these shoes, especially if they take them for a wade through the creek. The shoes are a healthy snack for fish, but will not provide protection against crabs, broken glass, or water snakes.  They are also recyclable. Once you outgrow them (if they haven’t yet dissolved), simply crumple them up and toss them in the recycle bin. The Cardboard Crock gives new meaning to a low carbon footprint. Pick up a pair of these limited edition shoes while they last, and keep in mind, if they don’t fit, they are environmentally safe and effective tinder for the fire.  Available one day only, April,1 2013.

Feeling Creative

We’re always feeling creative at Cardboard Safari. One of our designers, Louis Shultz is also a skilled cabinet maker. Being resourceful he is building a product-development prototyping table for our design team, Louis (himself) and Nate Main. The table will be a very functional work station for their exploratory minds creating new product mockups.
